Application for Graduate Assistantship

Graduate Assistantships

A limited number of graduate assistantships are awarded each school year.  Doctoral-level students may apply for and be placed with faculty in teaching or research positions. The selection process is very competitive and subject to students meeting the following conditions:

  • Academic Merit and Full-time Enrollment
  • Good academic standing in all courses and good progress toward a degree.
  • Responsibility and reliability based on previous evaluation in case of reappointment as assessed by supervising faculty or staff.
  • Collegiality and ability to take and follow directions and work constructively as a team member.

The graduate assistantship term of employment is semester to semester. A limited number of positions may be available in the summer. These are salaried positions that require an average of 20 hours a week and could be required to be onsite at Discovery Park between the hours of  8 am – 5 pm, Monday- Friday. For more information on assistantship resources and benefits, visit the Toulouse Graduate School website.

All interested students must complete the Application for Graduate Assistantship form and return it to LT-PHD@unt.edu. The application should be addressed to the Department Chair, Dr. Yunjo An. Applications must be received by November 15 for spring consideration and June 15 for fall consideration. Positions are open until filled.

Be sure to read the Doctoral Handbookfor complete details on positions available, qualifications, responsibilities and more.
